Thijmen van Kooij - About

As a painter, Thijmen van Kooij is influenced by the mysteries of nature and life that reveal themselves at night. In those quiet moments, where the world seems to slow down and the darkness allows for a different kind of observation, he finds inspiration for his work. It's not just about observing, but being fully present in those moments, allowing to be immersed in the experience. Through his paintings he seeks to share a sense of wonder and curiosity about the world, inviting the viewer to see the world through his eyes, and to experience the mysteries that are hidden all around us.

Thijmen van Kooij has been educated at the Amsterdam Instituut voor de Schilderkunst, where he also met Siert Dallinga, who gave him lessons back then. Meanwhile they have been working together for many years in a ‘masters–apprentice’ connection, which resulted in a joined exhibition in Galerie Hoogenbosch. Thijmen van Kooij is a member of the artist society De Ploegh.
